Since April 1 of 2015, Kashima City has been providing public wireless LAN service, "kashima-freewifi service in major tourist's destinations.

Purpose of "kashima-freewifi"

To enhance the tourists' convenience

As smart phones and tablets are becoming widely used, more tourists including those who are from overseas are using mobile devices with wireless LAN (WiFi) functions. This service allows tourists to use Internet at major tourists' spots in the city.

Enforcing information transmission capability

It enable us to be able to transmit tourist information and city information of Kashima City to more people.

Terms of Service

Those who use Kashima City Public Wireless LAN Service, "kashima-freewifi", must agree on the following terms of service upon use.

Places available

• Yutoku Monzen Shotengai (on the public streets)
• Hizen Hamashuku Sakagura Dori (on the public streets)
• Michi-no-Eki Kashima (outdoor areas
• Kashima Tourist Information Center (indoor), available from February 2016
• In front of Hizen Kashima Station (outdoor), available from April 2016

Hours of Service

7:00am - 7:00pm daily, except for Kashima City Tourist Information Center that offers service from 7:00am to 5:00pm.

How to Use

In the wirless setup screen, choose SSID "kashima-freewifi", and language. Then you are connected to Internet. There is no need to setup network environment such as IP address, DNS server, and encrypting of wireless.

Security

In order to facilitate the use of this service for anyone, we did not implement encrytion of the wireless by WEP and such. Therefore, there is certain amount of risk that malignant users can intercept wireless transmission between the terminal and the access point to steal your personal information such as ID, password or credit card information. Please understand this, and use this service at your own risk. This service filters accesses of harmful information on the Internet.
