In the Asaura region of Kashima, there is a 'kaburi-gasa' made of bamboo sheaths, called 'Asaura Jinpachi bamboo hat,' passed down from about 300 years ago. In the old days, Asaura Jinpachi bamboo hats sold so well that they had to start making them even before dawn. There is nothing wasteful about the structure made by splitting bamboo as a result of experience accumulated for many years and wisdom. There are two kinds of Jinpachi bamboo hats: against rain (rain hats) and against sunlight (parasole hats). They are used for farmwork and fishing. The local community has an association for the preservation of Asaura Jinpachi, and the Asaura Jinpachi bamboo hats are sold at direct sales stores, etc. in the city.
