Asahigaoka Park, where cherry trees bloom beautifully in the spring, has been designated as one of Japan's Top 100 Historical Parks by the Executive Committee for City Parks Law 50th Anniversary Commemorative Projects.
This was an effort by the Executive Committee for City Parks Law 50th Anniversary Commemorative Projects that selected and evaluated historic parks having excellent historic and cultural resources and contributing to regional revitalization in order to spread the attractiveness of these parks domestically and abroad and at the same time contribute to the preservation, passing down, and utilization of historic and cultural resources, the promotion of tourism, the realization of energetic local societies, etc. There were 332 applications from all over Japan, and 225 was selected for the top 100 from among them. Most important parks among them include Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and Hibiya Park. From among parks in Saga Prefecture, Yoshinogari Historical Park, Saga Castle Park, Ishiibi Park, Sano Memorial Park, and Ogi Park have been selected.
