It is a nightly Shinto ritual of Niiname-sai that has lasted for more than 300 years at Yutoku Inari Shrine. It is said that if you warm yourself at this fire, your disease is cured, and you are purified by being freed from all your sins. Kashima's specialty festival is held at the same time.
