Shingomori Beach

This is a dry beach of the Ariake Sea where you can see the autumn red leaves of the sea, shichimenso, or Suaeda japonica. This area is a stop-over site for migratory birds (shorebirds such as sandpipers and plovers) and their important habitat.

Nakakoba Dam

There is a park by the reservoir of Nakakoba Dam on the way to the starting point of a trail up Mt. Kyogatake. Spectacular 5000 Japanese hydrangeas bloom beautifully there. There is also a restaurant where you can enjoy local cuisine.

Yagotae Observation Deck

It is an observation deck on the side of Mt. Taradake at the altitude of 450 meters. You can have a view of the Ariake Sea and the Saga Plain. On a clear day, you see Kumamoto Prefecture on the other side of the sea.
